E-merchant operation mode options include: HTTP session redirection to SSL-enabled payment gateway for card authorization; POS terminal emulation by www-server using SSL transport; POS terminal emulator for merchant staff for manual authorization. Authorization protocol options (uplink and downlink) include various ISO 8583 flavors and several proprietary protocols.
